For many people, purchasing a home is the largest investment they will ever make. Because it is such a big investment, it is important to make sure that our homes are protected from potential hazards, disasters, and damage. This is where Homeowners Insurance comes in. Homeowners insurance is sold as a personal package policy designed […]
Charlotte has such fascinating stories; we can experience history every day– block by block. When the city was founded back in 1768, a large group of colonists, loyal to the British Crown, decided to settle in Charlotte. The intersection of two Native American trading paths is now the intersection of Trade and Tryon in Uptown. […]
Water follows the path of least resistance as gravity pulls it downhill. Unfortunately, when excess water accumulates in the bottom floor of your home, your home and possessions can be damaged or destroyed. Often, it is a result of outside water falling as rain or snow that makes its way inside. As little as 1 […]
If you live in the greater area of Charlotte, North Carolina, you are no stranger to large amounts of water. You may not live right on the coastline, but the ocean is just a four-hour drive away. With the beauty of the ocean comes massive rainstorms, flooding, and hurricanes that can destroy your Charlotte home. […]
Water damage occurs when excess water pools in areas where it shouldn’t. In a perfect world, a tiny leak would be noticed immediately and a restoration team, like Restoration 1, would quickly resolve the problem. However, three areas of your home that are out of sight and out of mind can develop leaks or humidity […]
The Charlotte, NC area has experienced its fair share of community disasters. As a result, residents should know how to prepare themselves and their homes for a range of events, including dangerous floods. Rain, hurricanes, and dam failures have led to serious flooding problems in the past. In 2016, FEMA conducted a review of flood […]
Hurricane Michael hit North Carolina as a tropical storm on October 11, wreaking havoc to the Greater Charlotte area. The strong storm stayed in the area for 12 hours, receiving 3-5 inches of rain and 35 mph wind gusts. North Carolina’s Governor, Roy Cooper gave a press conference, saying that “inland hurricanes and tropical storms are life-threatening […]
The arrival of Hurricane Florence was in mid-September, but we are feeling the affects of the storm as if it occurred yesterday. Especially on our beloved coastline, North Carolina is still struggling, and may be for awhile yet, as some people have lost everything. In the Charlotte area, we did not face the storm head-on […]

For this reason, we are more committed than ever to reduce the amount of home fires everywhere, starting in our area of Greater Charlotte. Here are five of the many ways you can help prevent […]
Undoubtedly, you have heard that there is a Category 4 hurricane headed towards the East Coast. Our state of North Carolina is in the direct line of the storm, leaving residents on the coast fearful and preparing for evacuation. According to CNN, the governor has already issued several mandatory evacuations, and urges residents to take extensive […]
Restoration 1, in my experience, is a terrific company! An old dishwasher was, I thought, the cause of a flood of water on the kitchen floor, so I bought a new appliance. The culprit turned out to be a mouse who’d bitten a hole in the outflow tube! To repair the damage to the flooring underneath I was referred to a company who gave me a huge estimate (which they refused to reduce), so I looked online and, thank goodness, decided on Restoration 1. They came the next day, studied the situation, gave me a reasonable assessment saving me several hundred dollars, and began the drying and repair work, ending with much nicer flooring. They were professional, were on time, nice to deal with, and I highly recommend them.

Had a burst pipe in the attic that leaked into a couple bedrooms, the hallway and into part of the kitchen and living room. When I called Todd at Restoration 1 he answered the phone promptly, was very polite and professional, and answered all my questions. It was a Sunday and he said he’d be there in about 90min but made it in closer to an hour. He and a co-worker worked until nearly 10pm on Sun night to take care of the worst of the water. He came back daily for several days to some minor final clean up and to check the progress of the fans and dry out of our house. He was always very professional and very easy to work with. He contacted our insurance and dealt directly with them for the billing. The only downside is that they only do the cleaning/drying…not the repairs. However, if I had water damage in the future I would not hesitate to use them again.
Let’s be honest, fire damage is something no one ever wants to think about. You’re probably all familiar with the fires raging in Australia. There are also those that hit closer to home, right here in the US. While both of these examples are quite a ways from Greater Charlotte, NC and are on a […]
In this crazy year, we are shocked at the wildfires in California wine country. According to Cal Fire, the Glass Fire ripped through 67,484 acres, badly damaging 31 wineries, restaurants and lodges. Even the vineyards are at risk; not only are this years’ grapes lost, the plants themselves might die. One fire might have financial […]
