Finding the right water damage cleanup company can be just as stressful as the water damage itself – especially when there are over 5 pages of companies when you Google ‘water damage cleanup in Charlotte.’ So, how do you know which one you should call? Restoration 1 of Greater Charlotte wants you to understand what you need in a successful and qualified water damage cleanup company.
First, look for a company that offers full-service water damage cleanup and restoration. Some companies only offer water damage cleanup, but will not cover repairs or other restoration services. This means finding yet another company to come and fix whatever needs replaced or repaired. It can be a hassle trying to work with multiple companies when you can find one that can do it all. From the initial response to water damage, through extraction, drying, and cleanup, to complete repair and/or rebuild, find a company that is qualified to do it all.
The next thing you should look for in a water damage cleanup company is one that follows the IICRC standard for water damage remediation. The IICRC provides a set of practical standards, based on reliable restoration principles, practices, and research, and set the foundation for the basic requirements of proper restoration practices. A company with certified experts and high service standards will stand by their work, and provide the best water damage cleanup results possible.
Since water damage is unpredictable, and can happen any time day or night, it is important to find a company that offers 24/7 emergency response. Water damage compounds with time, so it is important to respond quickly in order to mitigate damages. Since water damage will more than likely happen when you least expect it, it is important to find a company that is ready and able to respond at any time, and on a moment’s notice.
The right equipment for the task at hand will determine how quickly and effectively the job is done. When it comes to water damage cleanup, the right equipment can be the determining factor between a successful restoration and a sub-par one. With the use of state-of-the-art, commercial grade equipment, thorough extraction, drying, and dehumidification can be achieved. Be sure to find a company that has invested in the equipment they use, so that they can ensure the water damage in your home is properly cleaned up.
Working with your homeowner’s insurance can be challenging, and filing a claim can be just as stressful as dealing with the water damage; therefore, it will help take the stress off you if you can find a company that knows how to work with insurance. Experienced companies who have been in the business for a long time typically not only know how to work with insurance companies, but have also developed relationships and good rapport with many insurance companies. This will make filing a claim and working with your insurance so much easier. Water damage restoration companies who have experience working with insurance companies will be able to work with your insurance to be sure everything is taken care of.

(704) 741-7511Restoration 1, in my experience, is a terrific company! An old dishwasher was, I thought, the cause of a flood of water on the kitchen floor, so I bought a new appliance. The culprit turned out to be a mouse who’d bitten a hole in the outflow tube! To repair the damage to the flooring underneath I was referred to a company who gave me a huge estimate (which they refused to reduce), so I looked online and, thank goodness, decided on Restoration 1. They came the next day, studied the situation, gave me a reasonable assessment saving me several hundred dollars, and began the drying and repair work, ending with much nicer flooring. They were professional, were on time, nice to deal with, and I highly recommend them.
Had a burst pipe in the attic that leaked into a couple bedrooms, the hallway and into part of the kitchen and living room. When I called Todd at Restoration 1 he answered the phone promptly, was very polite and professional, and answered all my questions. It was a Sunday and he said he’d be there in about 90min but made it in closer to an hour. He and a co-worker worked until nearly 10pm on Sun night to take care of the worst of the water. He came back daily for several days to some minor final clean up and to check the progress of the fans and dry out of our house. He was always very professional and very easy to work with. He contacted our insurance and dealt directly with them for the billing. The only downside is that they only do the cleaning/drying…not the repairs. However, if I had water damage in the future I would not hesitate to use them again.
Let’s be honest, fire damage is something no one ever wants to think about. You’re probably all familiar with the fires raging in Australia. There are also those that hit closer to home, right here in the US. While both of these examples are quite a ways from Greater Charlotte, NC and are on a […]
In this crazy year, we are shocked at the wildfires in California wine country. According to Cal Fire, the Glass Fire ripped through 67,484 acres, badly damaging 31 wineries, restaurants and lodges. Even the vineyards are at risk; not only are this years’ grapes lost, the plants themselves might die. One fire might have financial […]
